Why Drain Line Repair Is The Most Practical Way To Fix A Broken Pipe

There is nothing more frustrating to a homeowner than problems with their pipes and pipework. Not only can these problems cause issues with your water use at home, but they can also cost a lot of money to fully fix. If the pipe is one that is taking sewage away from your home, then the leaking wastewater can cause a health and safety issue too, not to mention smell extremely bad. Traditional methods of fixing pipes were very simple and expensive: dig up the broken section and replace it. Nowadays there is a much simpler and more efficient alternative.

Drain Line Repair Service

With newer, advanced technology allowing smaller and smaller tools into drains, there has been a vast increase in the ability to fix broken pipes without digging them up. Now a special type of resin-like material can be inserted into the drain line and, after a few hours, will set just as hard as the rest of the drain. This covers up any cracks, holes, and other abnormalities that would normally require your drain line to be dug up and patched by hand. Now, all it takes is a few hours of a speciality drain line repair service and your pipes will be good as new.

Preparing The Area

Of course, before you go in and place the resin down in the appropriate places, you need to ensure that whatever caused the crack or hole is gone. Often, but not always, it is tree roots that were looking to get at the moisture inside the pipes and have broken through after years of pressure. To get rid of these roots, high powered hoses are used to blast them away and take back the full width of the pipe. This high-powered water does not cause more holes in the pipe and will only affect the material that is blocking it. Then, the patching can begin.

Getting Rid Of Clogs

Sometimes, the issue with your drain line isn't a hole at all, but rather a build-up of thick material along the sides that is causing a blockage. Depending on how old your pipes are, this could be anything from grease to an almost mineral-like material that has grown for decades. Other tools, apart from the pressurized hose, can be used to clear these blockages, including more robust steel cables that whip through even the toughest of build-ups. Consider using a drain line repair service in case you uncover any flaws in the pipe underneath, as you will need to get that patched straight away.
